Description

The Magna-Mike® 8600 is a portable thickness gage that uses a simple magnetic method to make reliable and repeatable measurements on nonferrous materials. Operation of the Magna-Mike is very simple. Measurements are made when its magnetic probe is held or scanned on one side of the test material and a small target ball (or disk or wire) is placed on the opposite side or dropped inside a container. The probe's Hall Effect sensor measures the distance between the probe tip and target ball. The measurements are instantly displayed on the large color thickness display.

Applications

Bottles and plastic or glass

In measurements of parts such as plastic containers, we need to place the field into the container. The magnetic probe, placed outside it, will bring the sphere. The latter follows the path of the probe until inspections of surfaces of complex geometry or corners. Also, minimum scan mode always shows the current thickness measurement and lowest thickness reading.

Tear seams (automotive sector)

The standard probe with the two discs and the protective cover (chisel tip) makes the Magna-Mike 8600 an ideal equipment for numerous applications in seams cars break this is thanks to its unique design which measures between narrow slots or grooves.

Aerospace industry and other sectors

The Magna-Mike has been successfully integrated into quality control programs in the aerospace industry. It measures parts made of composite materials and non-ferrous. The wires may be introduced into the cooling ducts of the turbine blades, and larger magnetic beads can be used to inspect parts of jet engines up to 25.4 mm (1.00 in.) thickness.
